Iranian Authorities Have Closed the Strait of Hormuz

The IRGC Navy announced over VHF radio a ban on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and effectively closed it, Reuters reports.

Data from maritime traffic monitoring services point to a sharp drop in the number of vessels within the strait itself compared with approaches to it and departures from it.

Reuters earlier reported that major oil companies had suspended shipments of crude oil, fuels, and LNG through the Strait of Hormuz.
