On Monday morning, July 20, an unidentified person detonated an incendiary device outside 26 Federal Plaza on Foley Square in Lower Manhattan. The complex houses offices belonging to federal agencies including DHS, ICE, USCIS, the FBI and the Social Security Administration, as well as New York City’s immigration court.
Eyewitnesses reported smoke near the entrance as employees left the building; according to WABC, a shelter-in-place order was issued for the complex. No injuries have been reported.
A suspect has been detained, and the FBI’s New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating. The New York Police Department also reported finding a firearm at the scene.
