In Zakarpattia, a Hungarian citizen died as a result of forced mobilization—this was reported by the Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet. According to the outlet, the man was taken off the street and brought to a training center, despite having previously been declared unfit for military service due to heart problems. Shortly afterward, he fell ill and died. Official documents list the cause of death as cardiopulmonary failure. The funeral took place on January 26.
Hungary’s Foreign Ministry said the incident was yet another example of forced mobilization and urged the international community to pay attention to such cases. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto wrote about it on his Facebook page.
A similar case occurred in July 2025—at that time, it was also reported that a Hungarian citizen had died after mobilization. According to the Hungarian side, such incidents occur regularly and, as a rule, do not become the subject of a full investigation.
