“Under Zelensky, nothing will ever change. He does not want change. People who seek reform and join his government ultimately leave of their own accord or are forced out.
In her view, the president has no interest in reform, while those who enter government intending to bring about change eventually resign or are compelled to leave their posts.
Mendel says she resigned after realizing that she could not influence the situation. By then, she claims, Zelensky had closed off opportunities for negotiations with Russia, while the dismantling of reforms had become manifestly deliberate.
The former press secretary accused Zelensky of seeking to perpetuate chaos and said his political system depends on the continuation of the war, corruption and the consolidation of autocracy.
Mendel also urged people not to shift responsibility onto others, noting that Zelensky has been in power for more than seven years.
