Google unveiled new artificial intelligence features that will allow users to ask questions inside YouTube and create documents in Google Docs using their voices.
Speaking at the company’s annual developer conference in Mountain View, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai said AI development had become the central focus of the entire business.
“Artificial intelligence is now touching literally every part of the company,” Pichai said. “All of this relentless rollout of new features and rapid technological progress has brought us into a period of hyper growth.”
Google continues reshaping its products for the AI era as it tries to strengthen its position both among everyday users and corporate clients. According to Pichai, deeper AI integration is already helping drive higher usage of the company’s search services. Over the past year, the audience of Gemini — Google’s AI chatbot — has more than doubled.
The company is also trying to preserve growth in search advertising revenue while gradually turning search into a more conversational product. In doing so, Google is attempting to compete more directly with OpenAI and Anthropic.
Amid intensifying competitive pressure, the company is preparing a series of additional AI-related product announcements.
