European partners have suggested that Volodymyr Zelensky continue the war for another year and a half to two years, promising financial support in return, Ukrainska Pravda reports, citing sources within the Servant of the People party.
“Europeans said: ‘Fight for another year and a half to two years. We will give you money.’ Under their influence, Zelensky instructed the political leadership to develop a scenario under which Ukraine would not hold elections for several more years and how the parliament would function in such circumstances,” an influential member of the president’s team said.
In February, a journalist from The Wall Street Journal also claimed that Zelensky had instructed his inner circle to prepare for the continuation of the war over the next three years. The President’s Office at the time dismissed the report as fake.
