Pavel Durov accused the French authorities of engaging in the same actions Paris is simultaneously trying to accuse Elon Musk and X of carrying out.
The Telegram founder said the French government itself is involved in the illegal collection of personal data, processing it without adequate safeguards, extracting information from automated systems, and violating the confidentiality of electronic communications.
“The French government is panicking. They know that a major political shift in 2027 will expose their wrongdoing. That’s why they are trying to silence free speech platforms under any pretext they think they can get away with,” Durov wrote, urging people to support Musk.
Earlier, Elon Musk described raids carried out by French authorities at X’s Paris office as a “political attack.”
