Cloudflare—a company that provides security and traffic-management services for a vast number of websites—reported disruptions in its global network on Tuesday afternoon, November 18, causing outages across several web platforms and applications. In a status update posted shortly before 7 a.m., the company stated: «Cloudflare is aware of the issue and is investigating an incident that may be affecting multiple customers. We are working to assess the scope of the impact and are taking steps to resolve the disruption». Roughly 20 minutes later, a new update noted that conditions were starting to improve: «We are seeing service recovery, though users may still encounter elevated error rates as remediation continues».
Cloudflare provides tools that shield websites from cyberattacks and streamline content delivery. The disruption affected several major online platforms, including X and the game League of Legends. According to DownDetector, a service that tracks outages, Spotify, Amazon and OpenAI also experienced problems.
The incident occurred nearly a month after an outage at Amazon Web Services triggered widespread disruptions across numerous online services, with the effects lasting for several hours.
