A man armed with a knife attacked passersby in the commune of Clermont-Ferrand in southern France, radio station Ici reports.
According to the station, the attacker was a 34-year-old immigrant from Sudan. Before police arrived, he wounded several passersby.
The man then stabbed one police officer in the neck. He was later detained. The motives for the attack have not yet been reported.
