China’s Defense Ministry said the Maritime Interaction 2026 exercises are aimed at “responding to security challenges and helping maintain regional peace and stability.”
The maneuvers will take place in the waters and airspace near the city of Qingdao. After they end, warships from the two countries will set out on a joint patrol of the Pacific Ocean.
The press service of Russia’s Pacific Fleet said Russian and Chinese naval personnel, with support from naval aviation, will practice joint rescue operations, anti-submarine tasks, air defense, and artillery fire.
The exact dates of the exercises, as well as the number of troops, ships, and equipment involved, have not yet been disclosed.
