More than a third of children in Ukraine—2,589,900 people—remain displaced after four years of war, UNICEF reported. According to the organization’s estimates, more than 791,000 children are displaced inside the country, while nearly 1.8 million live abroad as refugees.
A UNICEF survey shows that one in three displaced adolescents aged 15–19 has changed their place of residence at least twice. Such instability, the organization notes, is accompanied by a deterioration in mental health. The constant threat of attacks, prolonged stays in shelters, and isolation at home with limited social contact weigh particularly heavily on adolescents.
According to the same survey, one in four adolescents aged 15–19 has lost hope for a future in Ukraine.
