Kyrylo Budanov said forced mobilization in Ukraine will remain in place, though the way it is carried out needs to be reconsidered because of what he described as the “inhumane treatment of people.”
According to him, the country cannot abandon compulsory mobilization because “everyone willing to go has long since gone, and people are needed.”
Asked about possible changes to the system, he said only its methods of implementation could be adjusted. “The only thing that can truly be reformed is the manifestation of inhumane treatment of people during forced roundups. But it is the manifestation of inhumane treatment—not the fact of the roundup itself… We have millions of draft evaders,” Budanov said.
