A school minibus collided with a train at a railway crossing in the Belgian town of Buggenhout in the Flemish Region. According to VRT News, the crash left several people dead, though the exact number of victims has not yet been confirmed.
Police said there were nine people inside the minibus—seven students from a school for children with special needs, an accompanying adult, and the driver.
The accident occurred at around 8:15 a.m. A spokesperson for the railway company Infrabel said the crossing was closed and the barriers were down at the time of the collision. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
