The Belgian news agency Belga reports that the European Commission has failed to secure Belgium’s consent to use frozen Russian assets to provide Ukraine with the so-called “reparations loan”.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said he will not support the idea of using frozen Russian assets to provide Ukraine with a reparations loan, Bloomberg reports.
According to him, extending a €140 billion loan would only prolong the conflict. “Do we want to end the war, or are we fueling it? We are going to give Ukraine €140 billion so that the war can go on. What does that mean? It means the war will last at least another two years,” Fico said.
