BBC altered a 2021 recording of Donald Trump’s speech, creating the impression that he had incited his supporters to storm the Capitol. The Daily Telegraph reported the finding.

The segments in question were aired a week before the 2024 election and, as The Daily Telegraph noted, “completely misled viewers.” In the edited version, Trump appeared to say he would march to the Capitol to “fight like hell,” whereas in the original he spoke of his intent to “peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard.”
According to the newspaper, the falsification was confirmed by an internal BBC investigation.

BBC denied allegations of deliberately editing Donald Trump’s speech, saying the program had been produced by the independent company October Films Ltd. The company said it was “carefully reviewing” the circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, Kemi Badenoch, leader of Britain’s opposition Conservative Party, called the incident “absolutely shocking.” Speaking on GB News, she said “heads should roll at the BBC” and urged the corporation’s director general “to find out who spread the disinformation and fire those people.”
The paper also claims it will soon publish further examples of distortions by the BBC, including coverage of the war in Gaza and issues related to transgender rights.
