John Ternus will become Apple's next chief executive—the corporation has formally announced the transition, which will take effect on September 1, 2026. NBC News reported the news on April 20.
Tim Cook, who has run the company for the past 15 years, will move to the role of executive chairman of the board.
"It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be CEO of Apple," Cook said, adding that he had been trusted to lead an extraordinary company.
Ternus currently holds the position of senior vice president of hardware engineering at Apple.
